Message below from Student Support Guidance tutors :

We hope that this upcoming the winter break will be a time to recharge and rest after a tough year, but we also know that it is not always an easy time of year for everyone.

For some, this period can be stressful and emotionally challenging. And with the current guidance, there may also be some very difficult decisions to be made on who to spend this time with safely  and how best to do this, which may add extra worry and pressure.

Wellbeing support over the Christmas break

We realise more of you than usual will remain in Brighton for the Christmas vacation so we have put this simple guide together to outline the different wellbeing support available during this time. There are a wide range of external agencies and organisations that we work with during term-time who remain open to you during this period.

Some events and activities

We also want to make you aware of some festive events running from this Wednesday 16 to Monday 21 December. These are all online events hosted by our Student Ambassador team. They are aimed at international students who are staying in Brighton or Eastbourne over the vacation, but are open to all UoB students, wherever they are spending Xmas.

·         Wed 16 Dec: Christmas Icebreaker

·         Thur 17 Dec: Games Night

·         Fri 18 Dec; Christmas Quiz

·         Sat 19 Dec: Virtual Movie Night: Home Alone

·         Sun 20 Dec: Craft Along

·         Mon 21 Dec: Bake Along

There is also an in-person event on the 22nd December, a tree-planting volunteer event with transport and lunch provided. Places on this are booking up very fast, to find out more go to https://brighton.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/tree-planting-day-trip

You can also connect with Brighton Student Union over this time and be part of their events and wellbeing socials including “chill and chat” and “Quarantea and Biscuits”

We hope this email was helpful, and we are wishing you a time of rest and relaxation. If do feel you need any support during this time, please do let us know.

Kindest regards

Rachael and Steve
